For those who actually FOLLOWS my blog (the whole 2 of you that I haven't actually alienated), I do apologize for my the lapse in blog entries. I could explain how life kept me too busy to actually keep writing blogs, but I'm not going to give you the whole song & dance BS that typically follows with such relaunches.
Here's what you missed in my life since my last update...
1) Visited the dentist... have to schedule to get my wisdom teeth (& $1500 from my wallet) removed. yea! (//end sarcasm)
2) I got into an an elite community during their open invite period (as the owner was trying to raise activity on his site). It's pretty unique as it utilizes more of a command-line interface than the traditional GUI interface that most people are familiar with. The owner isn't that bad, but he DEFINATELY has issues with Explorer (by actually preventing users from getting on the boards through it).
3) Blew a small fortune on WiiWare & Virtual Console titles for my birthday. I got a good collection of titles (with a few POS purchases due to family-forced purchases) clogging up my SD card. -- It'll help generate some blog entries.
4) My older brother got married about 2 weeks ago (NOT on my birthday), mostly to get it out of the way before he gets shipped out. While it's his 2nd marriage, he's really found a great lady to be with that's in tune with him.
5) I just picked up a Google Voice number (with the assistance of a fellow user, who kindly sent me an invite). Now, I can reduce my phone costs... once I get a good cell plan (it maybe time to change carriers, something with a calling circle that I can exploit).
That should get you up-to-date here...
For the WiiWare & Virtual Console reviews, I'll be using a simple "Buy / Skip" system... mostly because that's what you're mostly likely ready the reviews for: a recommendation. There's only 3 verdicts you'll see:
* BUY IT! -- The game being reviewed is a solid choice that the majority of gamers will enjoy. There may be a few issues, but no deal breakers.
* Buy it with Reservations -- The game being reviewed is pretty good, but there's some issues (potential deal breakers) with the game or something that a fair number of gamers may not enjoy.
* SKIP IT! -- The game being reviewed is probably something that you'll want to pass on as there's usually some major issues with it (likely deal breakers) or it caters to a small group of gamers. Unless it's something that may interest you, save your money for other stuff.
It may not be a perfect system, but it's pretty good on a "human level" that some rating systems (like the 5-point or even the standard 10-point system) tends to lose some subjective appeal for objectivity.
That's all I have for now... stick around for more...
