1. What
does "NESpresso" mean? [TOP]
I came up with the name "NESpresso" when after taking a
coffee break when I was tearing down my old site to create this site.
Pretty much the ideas of Nintendo & coffee fused together to come
up with the name.
NESpresso is NOT AFFLIATED IN ANY WAY
with the Nestlé Corporation, nor their NesCafé brand.
I only found out about them after I came up with the name & played
with a domain registrar. In order to keep names semi-unique, the first
3 letters of the site is capitalized.
NESpresso's official name has evolved to "NESpresso Multimedia
Entertainment", which can be abbriviated to the ubiquitous "N.M.E."
2. What
is NESpresso all about? [TOP]
NESpresso was originally a Nintendo fansite & later a Nintendo
Community (LoudHouse & NSider, now "Club Nintendo").
Now NESpresso is just my personal site with various ideas & stuff
(including games, videos, animations, ect.) that I've come up with.
3. How
old is NESpresso? [TOP]
NESpresso was originally conceived & launched on November 29,
1999... You can do the math from there. However, the site automatically
announces it when an anniversary occurs.
This is the 4th rendition of the site, if anyone cares...
4. Why
do things looked messed up here? [TOP]
If things look messed up here, your browser is either prehistoric,
your screen resolution is extremely low OR you have something disabled
with your browser.
Here's what you'll need to properly view this site:
- Screen Resolution Width of 1024 or higher... like 1024 x 768 (4:3
res) or 1024 x 600 (netbook size) -- Anything smaller may result
in some undesirable side-scrolling.
- Latest version of your preferred browser -- The site uses CSS
to help with some advanced (& more dynamic) formatting &
it's usually in your best interest (security-wise) to have the most
up-to-date browser.
HOWEVER, if you MUST insist on using an older browser, here's what
you'll absolutely need to keep the look of the site steady.
- Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher (Preferred)
- Latest Version: 3.0.10 / 3.5 beta 4
- Note: Article Indentation (via CSS) NOT supported
- Mozilla Seamonkey 1.1.3 or higher
- Latest Version: 1.1.5
- Note: Article Indentation (via CSS) NOT supported
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
- Latest Version: 7.0 / 8.0
- Opera 6.0 or higher
- Latest Version 9.64 / 10.0 beta
- Note: DS, DSi & Wii Browsers supported
- Google Chrome 1.x or higher
- Latest Version 2.0 beta
- Note: NOT TESTED
- Apple Safari 3.x or higher
- Latest Version UNKNOWN
- Note: NOT TESTED
- Netscape Navigator 7.0 or higher (NOT
SUGGESTED)
- Latest Version 9.0
- NO LONGER IN DEVELOPMENT
(Switch to SeaMonkey)
- Have Javascript enabled & grant "NoScript" permission
to the site -- This site uses a fair amount of Javascript on the
site, so make sure you have it enabled!
For Firefox & Seamonkey users who happen to have the NoScript
add-on installed, make please allow scripts from Tripod & Lycos
to run.
As long as you can cover everything listed here, you should be OK!
5. Why
can't I access certain things? [TOP]
There's probably a few reasons here... but I run down the most common
things:
- Your browser is SERIOUSLY OUTDATED...
UPDATED IT ALREADY!
- You have Javascript disabled OR blocking scripts (with NoScript)
-- Some outside sites used here may include (subject to change without
notice):
- Hulu -- www.hulu.com
- Whirled -- www.whirled.com
- YouTube -- www.youtube.com
- You Don't Know Jack -- www.youdontknowjack.com
- You don't have the plugins OR programs to view the content. This
list includes:
- Adobe Flash (7.0 or higher for personal stuff, 9.0 or higher
for outside stuff)
- Adobe Acrobat (5.0 or higher) / Sumatra PDF (0.9.3)
- MS Office (XP or higher) / Open Office (3.1.0)
- Java Runtime Environment (1.4.2 or higher)
- Media Player supporting MP3's
- An outside content has been restricted for US users ONLY -- Some
sites (like Hulu) have restricted access to their content to US
based IP addresses. This is most likely due to restrictions in their
copyright permission.
The same has been done in the UK with the BBC's iPlayer (where it's
only accesible to UK based IP addresses), so don't get too offended
if you get blocked from such a service.
- Your Pop-up Blocker is enabled for the site -- This site does
use HTML & Javascript-based pop-ups here, but they're usually
user-initiated (meaning that you have to actually trigger them).
While most pop-up blockers that are built into most browsers won't
block these, other pop-up blockers may block them. If a pop-up gets
blocked, please grant permission for my site... even if it's only
a temporary deal.
- I messed up the link... -- It doesn't happen much, but it's possible
when I haven't tested a paged offline.
- The file I linked to either moved elsewhere OR removed -- This
can happen more with off-site links than anything.
- You're trying to click on a non-existant link. -- Tip: Actual
links will become underlined when you hover over them.
- You're poking your nose somewhere you shouldn't be! -- There are
a few sections of the site that are off limits & there's pages
that will stop yo.
6. How
do I get around here? [TOP]
If you haven't figured out this, which is probably unstandable to
some people, here's how to get around.
The extensive menu is usually on the left-hand size of the page,
as you've probably seen on my main page. This menu isn't on all the
pages because some links are a lot larger than the small menu column
can provide. On the top of all the pages is the "NESpresso:/>"
prompt, like the old DOS prompt. This is the "YOU ARE HERE"
bar & contains the path that you've taken to reached that
page. Everything in yellow has a link & therefore you can go backwards
to the area. Things in white aren't clickable, which only at the end
of the bar. You can click "NESpresso:/>"
at any time to return to the main page of the site.
7. How
can I contact you? [TOP]
Please be aware that I tend to keep to myself (as I don't use any
of the "stalker" sites like MySpace or Facebook... which
are a bit too impersonal & attention-whoring), so the best way
to reach me is via e-mail. HOWEVER, to order to prevent spammers,
you'll have to do a little work for it.
